See-Flo 1100 Meter System Solves Critical Flow Requirement
PLYMOUTH, MI - Sealant Equipment & Engineering re-developed the See-Flo 1100 Meter Mix Dispense System to improve the dispensing quality and application speed of a 2-part heat cure material for potting large industrial transformers. Prior to the using the See-Flo 1100 meter the customer was hand mixing and pouring a 1:1 epoxy material into the transformer. This procedure required material to flow slowly through the filler in the transformer and push the air out of the filler. This production method takes a lot of time and ensuring quality is a major concern for the manufacturer.
With the support of the material supplier and understanding the customer’s requirements, Sealant Equipment re-engineered the See-Flo 1100 system by increasing the flow rate of the entire meter-mix system and mounted the self contained system onto a mobile cart. With the new design, the all-pneumatic meter is able to dispense a 1:1 ratio material at up to 3.5 GPM and the customer is able to inject the material at the bottom of the transformer eliminating the concern of trapping air in the product.
There are many different transformer sizes. Each transformer requires up to 40 gallons of epoxy to be dispensed. With the new See-Flo 1100 meter, the potting application portion of the transformer production is now greatly reduced. The mobile cart has up to 100 gallons of unmixed epoxy onboard and can provide mixed epoxy on demand for two or more transformers before having to refill the material drums at a central filling station. |
